Hey, I'm Charlie Bartlett and this is my blog about teen movies, music, videos, personal rants. Feel free to make a request or ask advice and dont forget to register!
This movie isn’t for the faint of heart, it’s not for people who can’t accept the truth either. It’s blunt, it’s in your face, it’s everything a movie should be. Most of all, it’s something you can watch and think to yourself “that’s really messed up, but that’s how it really is”. Some of it is exaggerated, but only for the shock value. New York City in the mid-90’s is the setting, the kids are no older than 17. However, the story itself could have happened anywhere. The dialogue is on point, especially for the time. It’s probably my favorite part of the whole movie, the way these kids talk is so honest and real. Most movies about teenagers seem so contrived and fake, almost fairy-taleish. This is the exact opposite, there’s slang, there’s derogatory comments, there’s attitude. CLICK HERE to download/watch online…
This used to be the “Lolipop” of the 90’s aka an “Oral Sex anthem.” Although, the lyrics were a lot more obvious and nasty. Big Boi from Outkast is on this song too.
If you wanna laugh, watch the video of two idiots dancing to this song below, it’s pretty funny.
I don’t usually share new movies, but for this one I’m making an exception. It has to be one of the best romance movies I’ve seen in a while (and trust me, I HATE 99% of cheesy romance movies). Basically, the plot centers around this kid that deals weed out of an ice cream cart and to people at his high school. But, unlike in cliche hollywood movies, this kid is NOT cool. He has the hardest time getting girls (and even friends for that matter) yet he has a mission to get laid over the summer.
Basically guys, if you ever were/are a so called “friendless loser with no girlfriend” you can relate to this movie. Hell, since I was obsessed with playing video games and listening to music on my big ass headphones in 9th grade he kinda reminds me of myself. The best part is that it’s set in 1994 so they have references to Biggie and Kurt Cobain. The entire soundtrack is old-school hip hop.
It’s kinda hard to believe now, but 50 used to be a good rapper. Basically he RULED 2003 with this album. Keep in mind this was before all the cocaine and steroid use. “Many Men” has to be his best song every lyrically. When I can actually afford to buy my own car this has to be one of the first albums I’m gonna bump.
ps. NEVER watch the movie “Get Rich Or Die Trying”- unless, of course, you want a good laugh. It’s incredibly fake and was made when 50 was getting a big head so he exaggerated a ton of details of his life. I actually walked out of the movie theater I was so disappointed.
So yeah, the reason I haven’t posted in a while is because my internet at home is screwed up and also… partially because I’ve been high lol. Well, not “ALL the time” as 50 says in this song, but you know I had to fuck with Mary J. since I’m on break from school.
Hmm, I think I’ll share 50’s best album while I’m at it. STAY TUNED KIDS!
La Haine is probably the BEST (and only lol) French movie that I’ve ever seen. Hell, we saw it in film class as an example of ‘European Art Cenima’ (even though it has a lot of violence and swearing it’s college so they let anything slide) Translated it means “The Hate.” The plot focuses around 3 teenagers who grow up in the projects of Paris. This film is important because it shows that hate will continue to thrive even after racism is obliterated because of classism.
Don’t worry, english subs are included.
Come to think of it I have a final in my film class in… 6 hours. Shit. WTF AM I DOING!!! I’m such a lazy ass.

Don’t get me wrong, 2Pac had a lot of good songs, but he never really had that many good albums (this one being one of them). This album was actually released when he was in JAIL. Yeah, he knocked Michael Jackson off the charts FROM PRISON! The amazing thing about this album as that it was recorded in only 2 weeks. Read more…
Cuban Link is one of those rappers that NEEDS to get mainstream FAST! He used to be a member of Terror Squad (you know that song “Lean Back”?) Now he’s independent and this song remains unreleased because Atlantic Records decided to be a little bitch and not release/promote his first solo album.
Immortal Technique isn’t the most mainstream rapper, and this song explains why. It talks about the evils that may come with growing up in an urban environment. Scary shit.
Young kids can be drug dealers too. In fact, it’s very common since they are less likely to get caught and are easily influenced and impressed. If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to live the life of a drug dealer, you should check this movie out. Dealing certainly isn’t a steady job and it takes a combination of brains and sheer luck to maintain that flashy “dope boy” lifestyle. One thing’s for certain: it isn’t fun. Read more…
