High School Confidential [TV Show]

High School Confidential Season 1 Watch Online Streaming megaupload WEtv

There aren’t many good shows on ACTUAL high school life (except maybe MTV’s Made) that address real teen issues. I don’t know about you, but with most TV shows with teens today subjects like drugs, sex, religion, and family problems are either completely shunned or glorified to the point that it makes me sick. (*cough* The Secret Life Of The American Teenager *cough*)

This is a documentary series that aired on WEtv a couple of years back and documented the lives of 12 suburban high school teenage girls throughout their entire 4 years. They would go through some problems and then talk about them in private on camera whenever they wanted to (hence the name “High School Confidential”).

What I really like about this series is that it reveals that EVERYONE has issues- something I didn’t really think about when I was back in high school. Like my parents, I kind of assumed that there were just “those kids with issues” and then the “normal” ones. Even though I’m a guy, I can relate to a lot of these girls. Hell, I probably would have felt like less of a freak had I watched this back then lol.

Groove (2000) [Movie]

bully DVD cover

If you’ve ever wondered how raves work (secret underground techno parties), this film does a great job of explaining the 90’s rave scene in Los Angeles. It’s fictional, of course, but it shows everything from planning, to spreading the word, to dealing with cops, etc. Overall just a fun rave film to watch.

Niagara Niagara (1997) [Movie]

Author: Charlie Bartlett  //  Category: Movies

Damn. That’s about the only word I can think of after watching this rare 90’s movie. It’s so different from any other movies I’ve seen it’s kind of hard to describe. Part crime thriller, part romance, part drama, part indie. Some parts I was laughing my ass off and others I felt sick to my stomach. I watched it because it stars Robin Tunney who played the crazy girl in Empire Records, and guess what? She ALSO plays a crazy girl in here. Only, she has turrets disorder, OCD, and uncontrollable violent fits. And, what’s funny is, you can always forgive her in the movie for being the way she is because she’s so damn likable…well, almost.

90’s indie feel? Check. Hot girl? Check. Running away from home? Check. Storyline?….well, it would have been better if the ending wasn’t such a downer. It starts off pretty light then get’s dark; and all that could have been prevented with a little weed. I also wish they didn’t have so much unprotected sex in it- I kinda wanted the guy in it to be like “Umm, so should we actually use a condom this time or what?” lol. This is a SUPER-rare film because it was never released on DVD. You can download below or watch it online.

Rare Kurt Cobain Interviews (From About A Son) [MP3 Format]

Author: Charlie Bartlett  //  Category: Songs

jurt cobain DVD cover

While I’m sharing Nirvana I might as well post this. It isn’t really a song, but it’s an mp3 so I’ll just put it in the song category.

About A Son was an indie “movie” (if you can call it that) that took the best bits of previously unreleased Kurt Cobain interviews and TRIED to make a movie out of them. Unfortunately, they couldn’t get the rights to Nirvana music or anything else to do with Kurt, so they basically turned it into a boring slide show that shows pictures of Seattle while Kurt talks. It’s really a pathetic attempt to make a movie if you ask me. For this reason, I’m sharing the AUDIO ONLY of this “movie.” Think of it as a REALLY REALLY good audio book.

Sometimes when I can’t sleep I listen to this until I can.

“Rollin’” & “Faith” by Limp Bizkit [Songs]

Author: Charlie Bartlett  //  Category: Songs

limp bizkit Before you go listening to Limp Bizkit’s mediocre albums, I thought I’d save you some time and show you the band’s other two notable songs. The first is a cover of George Michael’s song “Faith” (yes, that gay dude) and the other is the party anthem (you HAVE to blast this in your car) “Rollin’.” I also included the music video for Rollin’ where he makes fun of all those boy bands by having disco balls and dancers in a room (oh yeah, the ‘baby baby’ backlash was already beginning then). KEEP ON ROLLIN’ BABY!

“Out The Way” by Hollywood Undead [Song]

Author: Charlie Bartlett  //  Category: Songs

hollywood undead SInce we’re on the subject of Nu-Metal/angry hip-hop rock music. I thought I’d share this song by Hollywood Undead with a ton of cussing. They gained popularity through MySpace and have never actually released an album but still tour with masks on. Yes, their look is kinda cool and this song is pretty fun, but to me, all of their songs sound the same and this one is the only one that stands out. [EDIT: They eventually released this song (another version of it) on their CD Swan Songs and called it "Undead"]

Manic (2001) [Movie]

manic DVD cover

Another great indie movie that really hits hard. Literally. The plot goes like this: a teen boy is sent to a rehabilitational clinic after he nearly kills another teen with a baseball bat. It stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt (yeah, the kid from Angels In The Outfield and Brick), Don Cheadle (who happens to be my favorite actor right now), and Zooey Deschanel (from Almost Famous). This rip also includes the directors commentary (you have to switch the audio channel in your player). This is low budget, contains little makeup, and no cheesy dialogue. Raw acting at it’s best. It’s a shame that not many people know about this movie.

Cheaters (2000) [Movie]

american history x DVD cover

All I’m going to say about this movie is that it will make you question how you view cheaters (oh, and it’s got Jena Malone from Saved! in it as well as the dude who played Dumber in Dumb and Dumber). It’s a pretty hard movie to find, which is sad because it has such a great message. Mind you, this will NEVER EVER get played in a high school because of how controversial it is. If you want to read my opinions of how I feel about cheating in school, be sure to read my rant about it HERE.

Almost Famous (Bootleg Cut) (2000) [Movie + Songs]

bootleg cut DVD cover

This is my favorite movie of all time. For a number of reasons: I first saw this when I was 15, I have a secret writing job, I have a nosy embarrassing over-protective mother like the one in this movie, and I want to tour on the road someday. This is the directors/extended/bootleg cut or whatever you want to call it. Basically it’s 30 minutes longer than the original and is sooooooooooooooooooooooo awesome. I know 22 links are a lot to download but TRUST ME it’s worth it!

Raising Victor Vargas (2002) [Movie]

victar vargas DVD cover

Here we have yet another hard-to-find DVDRip. This indie film isn’t the most flashy romantic flick, but it’s pretty realistic. If you’re looking for something as mellow as a summer day, then check this out. I can really relate to the main character, not because he’s a player (that’s not me at all lol), but because I constantly get blamed for things EVEN IF I DIDN’T DO THEM by my parents.
