Hey, I'm Charlie Bartlett and this is my blog about teen movies, music, videos, personal rants. Feel free to make a request or ask advice and dont forget to register!
I saw this video the other day and I was like DAAAAAAMN this girl is awesome! I don’t usually like “myspace sluts”, but this song goes HARD and the video is super-sexy. “I Love U” sounds like a cross between a Lil Jon song and what Britney Spears SHOULD sing if she didn’t give a fuck. You can watch the video above and download the song below.
I got this requested a LOOONG time ago (sorry KillaB) and I’m just now getting to it. 8 Mile came out in 2002 and became the number one movie in America. At the same time Eminem had the number one hit song (Lose Yourself) and the number one album too. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think anyone had ever done that before. Read more…
I can’t believe this album is 10 years old! It used to be the SHIT back in grade school. I remember seeing the Bawitdaba video constantly playing on MTV. It’s a shame that when you mention Kid Rock people only know that one song from him because there are so many good songs on this album like “Cowboy” and “Devil Without A Cause” that sound great when you’re in the car. Yeah, I’m atheist, but my favorite track on the album has to be “Only God Knows Why;” it’s probably the best song made with Auto-Tune ever! Read more…
This used to be the “Lolipop” of the 90’s aka an “Oral Sex anthem.” Although, the lyrics were a lot more obvious and nasty. Big Boi from Outkast is on this song too.
If you wanna laugh, watch the video of two idiots dancing to this song below, it’s pretty funny.
It’s kinda hard to believe now, but 50 used to be a good rapper. Basically he RULED 2003 with this album. Keep in mind this was before all the cocaine and steroid use. “Many Men” has to be his best song every lyrically. When I can actually afford to buy my own car this has to be one of the first albums I’m gonna bump.
ps. NEVER watch the movie “Get Rich Or Die Trying”- unless, of course, you want a good laugh. It’s incredibly fake and was made when 50 was getting a big head so he exaggerated a ton of details of his life. I actually walked out of the movie theater I was so disappointed.
So yeah, the reason I haven’t posted in a while is because my internet at home is screwed up and also… partially because I’ve been high lol. Well, not “ALL the time” as 50 says in this song, but you know I had to fuck with Mary J. since I’m on break from school.
Hmm, I think I’ll share 50’s best album while I’m at it. STAY TUNED KIDS!
La Haine is probably the BEST (and only lol) French movie that I’ve ever seen. Hell, we saw it in film class as an example of ‘European Art Cenima’ (even though it has a lot of violence and swearing it’s college so they let anything slide) Translated it means “The Hate.” The plot focuses around 3 teenagers who grow up in the projects of Paris. This film is important because it shows that hate will continue to thrive even after racism is obliterated because of classism.
Don’t worry, english subs are included.
Come to think of it I have a final in my film class in… 6 hours. Shit. WTF AM I DOING!!! I’m such a lazy ass.
[EDIT 12-27-08: Links for movie with embedded subs added]
This is another song about prostitution by a indie Canadian rapper Katchphraze. I was actually supposed to go to Canada and visit him, but NOOOO I didn’t get a car like I thought that summer.
Check this nigga out HERE on myspace and BUY that CD!
This documentary shows the world that 2Pac wasn’t JUST the best gangsta rapper, he was also an activist, leader, and a voice for the poor in the hood. No doubt, if he were alive today he’d be involved in some sort of political campign (probably backing Obama or something).
The main thing I liked about 2Pac was the fact that he was HUMAN (had different sides to him) AND yet he was a GENIUS. Keep in mind that nearly ALL of his songs were written in a matter of minutes. He recorded over 4 songs a DAY which is why 2Pac albums are still coming out today. Sure, you’ve got some rappers that have a TON of songs out now (Lil Wayne ring a bell?) but they don’t rap about things that matter like Pac did. HE TRULY SPOKE FROM THE HEART.
The scary thing about this movie is that TUPAC HIMSELF is narrating it! All of the audio is from previous interviews. So when he says “I got shot” he’s talking about ANOTHER time he got shot. See the trailer below to find out what I mean.
Don’t get me wrong, 2Pac had a lot of good songs, but he never really had that many good albums (this one being one of them). This album was actually released when he was in JAIL. Yeah, he knocked Michael Jackson off the charts FROM PRISON! The amazing thing about this album as that it was recorded in only 2 weeks. Read more…
