Hey, I'm Charlie Bartlett and this is my blog about teen movies, music, videos, personal rants. Feel free to make a request or ask advice and dont forget to register!
As the title states, a bunch of teens were busted and the cops expected to basically shut down a party because they thought the kids were drinking… but their keg was filled with root beer, so there was nothing they could do.
So what exactly should I rant about? Well, let’s look at the comment that one of the newscasters made: “we’re so used to showing situations of juvenile delinquency that we wanted to show something different.” Isn’t that true? The most sensationalist news is to show how fucked up teenagers are so that the adults can watch it and say in their condescending tone “back when we were kids…” Most of the adults watching probably did worse than drinking from a keg. If you’ve ever wondered how raves work (secret underground techno parties), this film does a great job of explaining the 90’s rave scene in Los Angeles. It’s fictional, of course, but it shows everything from planning, to spreading the word, to dealing with cops, etc. Overall just a fun rave film to watch.

One of my favorite music videos. I’m not going to give too much away if you haven’t seen it. All I’m going to tell you is that it was banned and no music stations would play this video when it came out. You can download the HQ version of it below. CLICK here to download HQ version…
People always say I’ll probably be a cool uncle when I grow up, hopefully I’ll be as cool as Uncle Buck in this John Hughes (the dude to make Breakfast Club) movie. This movie has everything: teen angst, a party scene, and embarrassing family members. Who CAN’T relate to this movie? CLICK HERE to download…
This movie is the DEFINITION of a rave film! For God’s sake, the way its shot makes you feel like you’re tripping! Be prepared for some eye candy, ear candy, and mindless-but-cool chatter. Lots of partying, dancing, and techno, but for some reason, it doesn’t get old. This film shows just how far people will go to have a little fun. Even if they feel like shit in the morning (lol). Garden State is one of those indie films that can suck you out of your shitty day and place you into a world of calmness and, best of all, make you realize how strange and wonderful life can be. (I’ve seen it 4 times). I showed this to my cousin after he got in a car crash (he was CONVINCED his parents were going to kill him for wrecking his car) and it made his day better. This movie was written and directed by Zach Braff (yes the dude from Scrubs) who apparently based some of this off of his real-life experiences and some farfetched stories he heard. It’s definitely NOT Hollywood, so don’t expect some cliché characters and special effects. I can best describe it as one of the comedy-romance movies that even a guy isn’t ashamed to like. Read more…
I’ve never actually seen the regular version of this movie (I always see the unrated version [the only part I don't really like about it is the random bleeding neck scene]). That being said, I think that this is one of those classic teen movies of the 21st century by Judd Apatow (who is probably my favorite director/producer/writer in Hollywood right now). If you’ve ever had a best friend then you can relate to this movie. What I like about most Judd Apatow movies is that they usually break the mold and push the boundaries by having realistic characters. Even though the plot may be a little cliche (house party, loser guy gets the girl, etc.) the characters are NOT your typical MTV stereotypes. Why can’t everybody be this honest?
This movie won’t change your life or anything, but it will make you feel better. Hell, the music in this movie is all alternative rock and sets the tone of the 90’s perfectly. If you’re looking for something mostly light-hearted and fun to watch then this is great. This is the movie that made me want to work at a record store. But I guess that won’t ever happen with the age of mp3’s. Well, we can all dream can’t we?
[EDIT: LINKS ARE UPDATED (200mb parts) WITH THE AUDIO FIXED. THIS COPY IS NOT OUT OF SYNC.]
