“A.D.I.D.A.S.” by Korn [Song]

korn

No, this song isn’t about shoes LOL. A.D.I.D.A.S stands for “All Day I Dream About Sex.” I actually remember seeing “ADIDAS” on the bathroom walls of my middle school and I never got the inside joke until years later….yesterday to be precise. :) Yep I guess you could call me a new Korn fan. The reason I never liked/listened to Korn was probably because one of my classmates in 8th grade tried to kill himself by taking 70 pills of ritalin (the ADHD drug). I remember him sitting behind me asking if he could go to the bathroom and then the next thing you know there’s a fucking ambulance at our school. He was wearing a Korn shirt when they found him in the bathroom.

So yeah, now I’m over that and I can finally appreciate Korn’s music. Better late than never.

Kid Rock - Devil Without A Cause (1998) [Album]

Author: Charlie Bartlett  //  Category: Albums

I can’t believe this album is 10 years old! It used to be the SHIT back in grade school. I remember seeing the Bawitdaba video constantly playing on MTV. It’s a shame that when you mention Kid Rock people only know that one song from him because there are so many good songs on this album like “Cowboy” and “Devil Without A Cause” that sound great when you’re in the car. Yeah, I’m atheist, but my favorite track on the album has to be “Only God Knows Why;” it’s probably the best song made with Auto-Tune ever!

P.O.D. - Satellite (2001) [Album]

AVA

P.O.D. only have one good album and this is it (so far). Never before has Christian music sounded so good. I have to say, before this album, Christian music (in general) was always trying to hide all of the problems of the world and the only songs you would hear from Christian artists were bubblegum pop garbage. But this blew the lid off that stereotype for sure! Rolling Stone even called it “some holy shit!”

Because Sonny (the lead singer) doesn’t swear (except for the word ass one time), this is one of those rare rock CD’s that I’d be allowed to blast in my house. (lol, Limp Bizkit would have me sent to boot camp for sure.)

“Rollin’” & “Faith” by Limp Bizkit [Songs]

Author: Charlie Bartlett  //  Category: Songs

limp bizkit Before you go listening to Limp Bizkit’s mediocre albums, I thought I’d save you some time and show you the band’s other two notable songs. The first is a cover of George Michael’s song “Faith” (yes, that gay dude) and the other is the party anthem (you HAVE to blast this in your car) “Rollin’.” I also included the music video for Rollin’ where he makes fun of all those boy bands by having disco balls and dancers in a room (oh yeah, the ‘baby baby’ backlash was already beginning then). KEEP ON ROLLIN’ BABY!

“My Way” by Limp Bizkit [Song]

Author: Charlie Bartlett  //  Category: Songs

limp bizkit While I’m in the Nu-metal mood, I might as well post Limp Bizkit’s best song “My Way.” Fred Durst has such a great outlook on life. Feeling stressed? Try not giving a fuck! Below is also another music video by them.

“Youth Of The Nation” by P.O.D. [Song]

Author: Charlie Bartlett  //  Category: Songs

POD Now for an actual MEANINGFUL Nu-Metal song. I know POD is a Christian band and it means Payable on Death, but I don’t care. It’s still a great song. It was inspired in part by the school shootings at Santana High School and Columbine High School. Man, WHY did Sonny have to cut his dreads?!! He looks soo cool in this vid! (I’ve also the video below)

“Out The Way” by Hollywood Undead [Song]

Author: Charlie Bartlett  //  Category: Songs

hollywood undead SInce we’re on the subject of Nu-Metal/angry hip-hop rock music. I thought I’d share this song by Hollywood Undead with a ton of cussing. They gained popularity through MySpace and have never actually released an album but still tour with masks on. Yes, their look is kinda cool and this song is pretty fun, but to me, all of their songs sound the same and this one is the only one that stands out. [EDIT: They eventually released this song (another version of it) on their CD Swan Songs and called it "Undead"]

Linkin Park Music Collection [2 Albums]

Author: Charlie Bartlett  //  Category: Albums

linkin park

I feel like I shouldda posted this earlier, but whatever. Linkin Park was the first band that I really got into and listened to a FULL CD of the year before I hit high school. These songs have “teen angst” written all over them. Chester really knows how to scream like hell and the combination of metal and rap just produces a brilliant sound (now called Nu-Metal) that had never really been done right in 1999 when they came out. Of course they had a lot of copycats (like the OK band Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach’s first album) and they have since abandoned this sound, but these albums remain their best work.

A single from one of these albums could come out tomorrow and STILL top the charts.
