Hey, I'm Charlie Bartlett and this is my blog about teen movies, music, videos, personal rants. Feel free to make a request or ask advice and dont forget to register!
If you’ve ever wondered how raves work (secret underground techno parties), this film does a great job of explaining the 90’s rave scene in Los Angeles. It’s fictional, of course, but it shows everything from planning, to spreading the word, to dealing with cops, etc. Overall just a fun rave film to watch.
Hell yeah! All of the blink-182 music videos. Just sit back, relax, and ROCK OUT! Out of all of their music videos, I have to say that I like “The Rock Show” the best (even though Feeling This is pretty cool too). The song may not be that great, but the video is AWESOME. I couldn’t think of a better way to waste money. Read more…
Angels and Airwaves is Tom from blink-182’s “new” band. I STILL think that blink-182 was a better band live, but Angels and Airwaves is more original.
I went to Warped tour yesterday just to see Angels and Airwaves (since this album is AMAZING) but I, have to say, it was just OK (Yes, I’m still sad that I won’t get the blink-182 experience that I’ve always wanted.) On a side note, Matisyahu kicked everyone’s ass, even Travis from Gym Class Heroes was impressed. Then I remembered that some of this stuff is IMPOSSIBLE to play live since there are so many guitar/keyboard parts that would require more than 4 people to play them. STILL, this is one of the best albums I’ve ever listened to. I listen to it almost every time I can’t sleep (which is a LOT mind you) and it never fails to inspire me. I recommend loading this in your MP3 player and listening to it in the dark while lying down before you go to bed.
The first time I listened to it that way I SWEAR I got a natural high. This is perhaps the most relaxing album you’ll ever listen to with a Parental Advisory warning on it (lol).
One of the greatest/underappreciated bands of all time! I feel like Tom, Mark, and Travis raised me because all of these songs are basically exclusively FOR teens. I probably listened to more blink-182 than ANY other music EVER when I was in high school because of the fact that their songs are simple and catchy, and also talk about subjects that teens can relate to (sex, drugs, what a fucking hassle parents can be, and just about any crazy random shit you can think of). When I first heard blink-182 in middle school I COULDN’T STAND THEM because I thought Tom’s voice was annoying as hell. But after a while of getting used to it (it took about a week mind you) I realized that his voice was PERFECT for teen songs. It’s too bad they broke up in 2005, but all of these songs remain a soundtrack to my high school life.

This has to be one of the best music videos EVER! Not to mention the best song on American Idiot. It’s sad that it isn’t recognized as what it should be: the modern-day equivalent of Bohemian Rhapsody for the new punk generation, but NOOOO radio stations don’t like playing songs longer than 4 minutes in length. While the actual length of the song is 9 minutes long, this video is about 12 minutes long because it’s got some good acting in it as well. This is one of the first songs that I used to listen to when I first started sneaking out of the house. I just love the line “graffiti on the bathroom wall.” Anyone who hates the town they grew up in will LOVE this song/music video. You can watch the 9 minute version above and download the HQ 12 minute version below.
Words can’t describe how AWESOME this album is, but I’m going to try it anyways. Basically, American Idiot was Green Day’s HUGE comeback album. So huge, in fact, that they surpassed their popularity i the 90’s from their hit 1994 album Dookie. The album was suposed to be a concept album that tells the story of a punk kid Jimmy who has experiences with drugs, girls, running away from home, etc. But to me, the whole “concept thing” kinds failed because some of the songs just don’t fit in with the story.
For example, “American Idiot” was an anti-propaganda song that basically reflected the times when the majority of Americans supported Bush’s retarded decision to invade Iraq for no good reason. When lead singer Billie Joe says “Don’t wanna be an American Idiot” he’s saying he doesn’t buy into the propaganda on TV and by the Bush Administration. Read more…
Hands down My So-Called Life was one of the greatest teen shows of the 90s (if not THE best). I don’t even care if the main character was a girl, this show ROCKED! It was one of the greatest of it’s time because it was one of the first American shows to REALISTICALLY address things like drugs, sex, homosexuality, depression, etc. Sure, that gay-ass Degrassi show TRIED but, of course, it was cheesy as hell. Plus, this show was made back in 1994 so it’s AUTOMATICALLY cool. Unfortunately, there was never a second season, but you can download all of the first season below in HQ or watch it online if you’re a member. Download Full Episodes or Watch online…

Here’s a music video that really needs no introduction. How should I put this….uh…IT ROCKED THE WORLD!!!!! Just to give you an idea of how big this song was- before this song, the whole “Alternative” genre didn’t exist and Alt rock stations were non-existent. You can watch it above and download a higher quality version below on rapidshare. As for the lyrics, basically he’s making fun of how naive teenagers are in nature (they like to be entertained, metaphorically they think that ‘with the lights out it’s less dangerous,’ etc) Read more…
YOU MUST WATCH THIS MOVIE. Think of the scariest movie you’ve ever seen then MULTIPLY IT BY 5. An Inconvenient Truth is the fourth-highest-grossing documentary in the United States (Fahrenheit 9/11 is the first DUH) and for a GOOD reason. This movie/documentary blows the lid on the whole “global warming doesn’t exist and is gonna fix itself” bullshit and provides SOLID FACTS to prove that we’re basically FUCKED if we don’t do something. Unless we want our kids to be living in a toxic over-populated hell, then we better do something quick. I know Al Gore isn’t much of an entertaining person, but he does his best during this movie. And. of course, he isn’t that dumbass Bush so he speaks clearly. Read more…
Usually the things you hear about weed from the media, your parents, and school is that it’s this horrible drug that will make you into a dumbass and lure you into doing stupid things like getting kicked by a cow in the knee for fun (I’m remembering that stupid anti-drug commercial). Of course, the truth is that weed is one of the LEAST harmful drugs and this documentary does a good job of explaining why. If you’re one of those straight-shooters and have never done anything without researching it first- HERE YOU GO! This is your research for weed biotch. I’m also sharing this is because It’s very hard to find on the net. I know the director of this documentary is called Ron Mann, but he might as well be called Ron DA Mann, cuz dude, this TOTALLY changed the way I thought about weed when I first saw it. Read more…
