I really get ticked off when people ask me why artists like Marilyn Manson have to swear and be “vulgar.” It’s not like they were born that way, they BECAME who they are because of their surroundings. America is fucked up. And…to be honest, I don’t know why more people aren’t.
Damn. That’s about the only word I can think of after watching this rare 90’s movie. It’s so different from any other movies I’ve seen it’s kind of hard to describe. Part crime thriller, part romance, part drama, part indie. Some parts I was laughing my ass off and others I felt sick to my stomach. I watched it because it stars Robin Tunney who played the crazy girl in Empire Records, and guess what? She ALSO plays a crazy girl in here. Only, she has turrets disorder, OCD, and uncontrollable violent fits. And, what’s funny is, you can always forgive her in the movie for being the way she is because she’s so damn likable…well, almost.
90’s indie feel? Check. Hot girl? Check. Running away from home? Check. Storyline?….well, it would have been better if the ending wasn’t such a downer. It starts off pretty light then get’s dark; and all that could have been prevented with a little weed. I also wish they didn’t have so much unprotected sex in it- I kinda wanted the guy in it to be like “Umm, so should we actually use a condom this time or what?” lol. This is a SUPER-rare film because it was never released on DVD. You can download below or watch it online.

Here’s a movie that addresses both subjects of school bullying AND school shootings. Even though it’s not as good as Bully or Zero Day, it’s got some good acting and it’s a film that does finally show that school shootings don’t just occur because teens are influenced by violent music or video games, but OTHER underlying issues. Unfortunately, it’s in Estonian, so you’ll have to endure subtitles for it. But, trust me, it’s worth it.
They say it was inspired by real events, but I have a hard time believing that schools where bullying isn’t caught on camera still exist. There are just too many scenes where teachers should have caught the bullying but weren’t in the hallway or remained clueless. Then again, this IS a foreign film so they have different security than American schools.
And here I thought the world learned something from Columbine.
Chris Rock explains why he’s afraid of white high school kids. His idea for gun control would never work, but you have to admit it’s funny.
This video rox! Princesses with guns? LOFL!

This movie addresses racism for what it really is: EVIL. Like the movie Crash, different sides of the issue are faced, only this time it involves teens too. It’s true, they way that you are brought up by your parents reflect the way you think. If your parents are racist, then there’s a good chance that you might be. Of course, there are other times when kids look to their elders and learn what NOT to do.

Battle Royale along with Thirteen are the two movies that changed my life. I saw both of them when I was fifteen and basically…how should I put this…I never saw the world the same since then. This is perhaps the bloodiest movie I’ve ever seen and for a while, it was banned in the US. It’s one of those heavy movies that you’ll never want to see again, yet you can’t deny it’s brilliance. I won’t give anything away besides the basic plot: “In future Japan, the government captures a class of ninth-grade students and forces them to kill each other under the revolutionary “Battle Royale” act.” (Yes, it’s in Japanese with English subs, and fuck NO you can’t find a crappy English dub of it). It’s like a modern “Lord of The Flies.” I seriously couldn’t eat after I saw this film.
[On a side note, there is a mediocre sequel to this called Battle Royale II, but it isn't directed by the same guy and is faker than Pamela Anderson's boobs.]

Believe it or not, this movie was filmed before the Columbine High School shootings and actually was based on a banned play. That being said, this has to be one of the best made-for-tv movies EVER. Like Zero Day and Bowling For Columbine, it addresses school shootings so be prepared for some heavy shit.
