Hey, I'm Charlie Bartlett and this is my blog about teen movies, music, videos, personal rants. Feel free to make a request or ask advice and dont forget to register!
This is one of the highest selling, and not to mention, greatest albums of the 90’s. It remains the best-selling debut album by a female artist in the U.S.. I still think Courtney Love rocked harder with her band Hole, but Alanis was still grungy (of course, Courtney still paved the way). Not exactly pop and not exactly rock, but somewhere in between, which is why she was more acceptable and popular. My favorite song from here has to be “Hand in My Pocket” because it shows that Alanis is really a great songwriter.
If you ask me, she fell off after this CD. I don’t really like her new stuff.
I’m not really a big fan of Pearl Jam. They just never clicked with me. But I’ve always been drawn to “Jeremy”. This song wasn’t even suppose to be a single and it’s about a kid who commits suicide in school (which you know, really happened). The video caused a lot of controversy because at the end the kids are splattered with blood and people thought that Jeremy shot up the classroom, which pretty much showed me how stupid and unwilling to listen people are. An awesome song abetted by an awesome video, I can’t really describe what a profound effect this song had on me the first time I heard it, even though I had noooooo clue what Eddie Vedder was saying. It was one of my first examples of how music can be so much more than entertainment.
Damn. That’s about the only word I can think of after watching this rare 90’s movie. It’s so different from any other movies I’ve seen it’s kind of hard to describe. Part crime thriller, part romance, part drama, part indie. Some parts I was laughing my ass off and others I felt sick to my stomach. I watched it because it stars Robin Tunney who played the crazy girl in Empire Records, and guess what? She ALSO plays a crazy girl in here. Only, she has turrets disorder, OCD, and uncontrollable violent fits. And, what’s funny is, you can always forgive her in the movie for being the way she is because she’s so damn likable…well, almost.
90’s indie feel? Check. Hot girl? Check. Running away from home? Check. Storyline?….well, it would have been better if the ending wasn’t such a downer. It starts off pretty light then get’s dark; and all that could have been prevented with a little weed. I also wish they didn’t have so much unprotected sex in it- I kinda wanted the guy in it to be like “Umm, so should we actually use a condom this time or what?” lol. This is a SUPER-rare film because it was never released on DVD. You can download below or watch it online. CLICK HERE to download full movie or stream it online…
Since I’m still in a Nirvana mood right now I thought I’d share their episode of Classic Albums. It goes into detail about the stories behind each one of the songs on their classic CD Nevermind- which STILL happens to be my favorite album of all time. You can also download the dvdrip version of it from rapidshare below and it’s much better quality and includes extras.

This was the last song recorded by Kurt Cobain before he died. It’s really haunting and the lyrics are intense. There will always be people that suspect foul play in his suicide, but to me it’s obvious he killed himself. Just listen to the lyrics, he wasn’t happy and this song proves it. The compilation of Nirvana’s stage footage goes great with this song, it just goes to show you how much they really did rock. CLICK HERE to download the DVDrip…
I’ve been feeling a bit old lately…no joke. I know I’m only 20 and all but, shit, all of my younger friends just can’t relate with all of my responsibilities now. Most of them have never had a job in their life and never lived a week without mommy doing their dishes and cooking for them. I remember being lazy too, but damn, was I really THAT lazy?
Uhh, I have no idea why I just typed that. I was gonna talk about the song, but o well.
Apparently this song is about a guy who was sick of smelling sex in his dorm room. I know my roommates (one in particular) are getting action but I really don’t care. Classic 90’s tune here, it topped the charts for god knows how long. Really laid back “i don’t give a fuck” vibe.

A classic interview where Dave tells kids to smoke pot and Chris explains the ills of elevators. Some people think that they were high or drunk during this interview, I on the other hand, think that this is just they way they normally were during interviews LOL.
While I’m sharing Nirvana I might as well post this. It isn’t really a song, but it’s an mp3 so I’ll just put it in the song category.
About A Son was an indie “movie” (if you can call it that) that took the best bits of previously unreleased Kurt Cobain interviews and TRIED to make a movie out of them. Unfortunately, they couldn’t get the rights to Nirvana music or anything else to do with Kurt, so they basically turned it into a boring slide show that shows pictures of Seattle while Kurt talks. It’s really a pathetic attempt to make a movie if you ask me. For this reason, I’m sharing the AUDIO ONLY of this “movie.” Think of it as a REALLY REALLY good audio book.
Sometimes when I can’t sleep I listen to this until I can.
Jaaerdfoll: hey everybody
