Hey, I'm Charlie Bartlett and this is my blog about teen movies, music, videos, personal rants. Feel free to make a request or ask advice and dont forget to register!
Are you one of those people that watch tons of YouTube videos of people getting hurt and laugh? How about videos with fights, violence, blood and/or death? I bet you think you’re so different from them. I also think you should watch this movie.
Let me first start off by saying that this isn’t a “popcorn movie.” If you’re looking for mindless entertainment or a light comedy that you can watch with a bunch of your friends then skip this one. However, if you want to think about how rumors and internet video mindfuck high school students today then this is a film that brings up that point and smashes it in your face. Not too long ago I shared another special called “The Merchants of Cool” which basically showed you how it’s COMPANIES, and not other teens, that make trends and fads happen. Well, here’s another special by Frontline also which explains why teenagers are the way they are- sleeping, boredom, our sex drives, mood swings. Basically anything you can shake a dick at. A lot of shit is explained in this video which reveals that teens are SUPPOSED to be tired and lazy and wanting sex all the time- it’s just the way we’re wired.
On a side note, me and my sis tried showing this to our parents to see their reaction. Needless to say, they got off our backs for about a couple of days…but then it returned to normal. Old people….they just never learn do they?

I don’t know about you, but I was tricked in school into thinking that Ecstasy (aka X, Ex, or Extacy) put holes in your brain. They showed me that picture of the brain with holes in it and I was like “Ok, fuck no…not doing that shit ever.”
But, of course, like most of the shit they “teach” you at school, I came to find out that it wasn’t true. IT’S A FUCKING SCARE TACTIC. This is a great special on ecstasy and how it came about. It’s pretty short and covers just about everything you need to know. Check it out and, if you’re like me, you’ll want to get your hands on some Ex.

One of my favorite music videos. I’m not going to give too much away if you haven’t seen it. All I’m going to tell you is that it was banned and no music stations would play this video when it came out. You can download the HQ version of it below. CLICK here to download HQ version…
I was just going to post one Manson album (Holy Wood) but then I just said “Fuck it, they need to hear everything.” So here you go, EVERY good Marilyn Manson album. If you told me that I was going to be a fan of Marilyn Manson a year ago I would have laughed at you and said something like “Manson?…ehhh isn’t he like trying to be the devil or something so he can get attention..geez that guy is weird.” But since then I’ve become to appreciate his art…I say art because he’s actually one of the last TRUE music artists around. Visually, musically, lyrically- just EVERYTHING this guy does is art. He really represents what it means to be a true individual and I respect him for that.
On a related note I’d like to point out that Lady Gaga is trying very hard to be the female Marilyn Manson. Ok, sure, she’s an artist herself, but she STOLE Manson’s style completely. Don’t even get me started on the stupid costumes and videos.
This is one of my favorite songs ever. It’s about how Hollywood movies glorify violence, sex, and drugs. “Slow motion” refers to when they slow down scenes in movies- you can make anything look cool when you do that, that doesn’t mean it’s good. It just seems like every “good” movie that people take seriously has to be packed with unrealistic extreme destructive behavior. NEWSFLASH: problems aren’t cool.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, people can have sex everyday and not hurt anybody; murder, on the other hand, ISN’T NORMAL yet we see it more often in movies and it’s even considered more “appropriate” to see than sex. Suck my dick hollywood.
Damn. That’s about the only word I can think of after watching this rare 90’s movie. It’s so different from any other movies I’ve seen it’s kind of hard to describe. Part crime thriller, part romance, part drama, part indie. Some parts I was laughing my ass off and others I felt sick to my stomach. I watched it because it stars Robin Tunney who played the crazy girl in Empire Records, and guess what? She ALSO plays a crazy girl in here. Only, she has turrets disorder, OCD, and uncontrollable violent fits. And, what’s funny is, you can always forgive her in the movie for being the way she is because she’s so damn likable…well, almost.
90’s indie feel? Check. Hot girl? Check. Running away from home? Check. Storyline?….well, it would have been better if the ending wasn’t such a downer. It starts off pretty light then get’s dark; and all that could have been prevented with a little weed. I also wish they didn’t have so much unprotected sex in it- I kinda wanted the guy in it to be like “Umm, so should we actually use a condom this time or what?” lol. This is a SUPER-rare film because it was never released on DVD. You can download below or watch it online. CLICK HERE to download full movie or stream it online…
Another Day In Paradise is about a poor teen who has to rob and commit petty crimes to keep him an his girlfriend living in their shitty apartment. But one day a “big-time” robber decides to show him the ropes and together they start to go for bigger robberies. Of course it spirals out of control, but I’m not going to tell you how. This was also directed by Larry Clark (the guy who directed Bully) so expect it to be a bit controversial :).
I usually hate musicals. Let me stress that…I ABSOLUTELY FUCKING HATE EVERY MUSICAL I’VE EVER SEEN. Except this one for some reason. Maybe it’s because there’s really a story to it and it has a lot of songs that i can sing to. Or maybe it’s because i think Evan Rachel Wood is hot and I was stoned the first time I saw it…yeah that might have to do something with it. Anyways, this is the ONLY musical I’ve ever seen and liked. So, if you’re like me and you hate musicals, you should at least give this one a shot cuz you just might like it. Requiem For a Dream is one of those movies that you just need to see once. In fact, after I saw this movie I felt soo drained that I didn’t want to watch any other movies for the remainder of the week. I don’t think I’ve seen a movie about drugs that has terrified me as much as this one. Jared Leto (the guy from 30 Seconds To Mars) and Marlon Wayans are surprisingly good actors in this hard hitting drama. The music, of course, may be played out now because of the cult following, but it’s still very haunting.
