I’m so glad this movie won all those awards back in 2008. It REALLY WAS the best movie of the year in my opinion. It stars Dev Patel (from Skins) in it and shows the gritty life of a young hustler in India. I don’t like any Bollywood movies (that’s the Indian Hollywood for those of you that don’t know) but this movie is like an American crossover version of a Bollywood movie- and it’s INCREDIBLE. Oh, and it’s got that MIA “Paper Planes” song in it so that’s cool lol.

The Battle Of Shaker Heights (2003) [Movie]

Author: Charlie Bartlett  //  Category: Movies

This isn’t one of the best teen movies I’ve seen, but it’s enough to put you into a good mood. It addresses things like putting up with your bratty friends because they’re rich, having a shitty after school job, and being obsessed with older women.

Aside from the whole civil-war-reenactment thing, I’m pretty sure most guys can relate to this movie.

Cutlass (Short Movie) [Video]

Author: Charlie Bartlett  //  Category: Viral Videos

This is a short 16 minute movie written and directed by the talented and beautiful Kate Hudson (the actress from my favorite movie Almost Famous). Even though she isn’t actually in it, the super-fine Kristen Stewart is…so that’s good. I thought I’d share this because it’s about how parents have the power to help you make big purchases like a car or a guitar and GOD DAMMIT I WANT A CAR SO BAD!

Ugh! I’m gonna be going to school in a few weeks and it looks like I’m gonna have ta walk 20 minutes each way for a couple days a week since my cousin can’t give me a ride on certain days. DAMMIT! I had ONE (count it…1!) goal this summer and that was to get a car. I seriously thought my parents were going to get me one for my birthday but they didn’t (just like last year, and the year before that).

Ok, I’m done sulking. Feel free to drop any comments about having a car-less life.

Bart Got A Room (2009) [Movie]

I’ll admit it, I never got a prom date. Don’t get me wrong, I knew a few girls who I knew would go with me…but they were either obnoxiously geeky or fat. So I just went with some friends and ended up having an ok time. This movie won’t change your life or anything, but it’s a nice change of pace from all those movies that portray the Senior Prom as this big fucking party where everyone suddenly turns cool at.

Antwone Fisher (2002) [Movie]

antone fisher DVD cover

I know what it looks like. It LOOKS like a movie about a kid from the hood who wants to make something of himself so he joins the Navy. Well, I assure you that there’s A LOT more to the story than that. This movie almost made me cry at one point. I know Denzel hasn’t really changed his style since Man on Fire, but he’s great in this movie and even directed it. Antwone Fisher is a real person who has gone on to write movie scripts.

Almost Famous (Bootleg Cut) (2000) [Movie + Songs]

bootleg cut DVD cover

This is my favorite movie of all time. For a number of reasons: I first saw this when I was 15, I have a secret writing job, I have a nosy embarrassing over-protective mother like the one in this movie, and I want to tour on the road someday. This is the directors/extended/bootleg cut or whatever you want to call it. Basically it’s 30 minutes longer than the original and is sooooooooooooooooooooooo awesome. I know 22 links are a lot to download but TRUST ME it’s worth it!

Raising Victor Vargas (2002) [Movie]

Here we have yet another hard-to-find DVDRip. This indie film isn’t the most flashy romantic flick, but it’s pretty realistic. If you’re looking for something as mellow as a summer day, then check this out. I can really relate to the main character, not because he’s a player (that’s not me at all lol), but because I constantly get blamed for things EVEN IF I DIDN’T DO THEM by my parents.

American Graffiti (1973) [Movie]

graffiti DVD cover

This is THE DEFINITION of a classic teen movie. Usually, 70’s movies about teens suck, but this one is a HUGE exception. It’s basically about a group of high school kids growing up in the 60’s driving around town and having fun over the course of one day. It’s not a well-known film, however it’s directed by George Lucas (yes, the dude that directed 3 good Starwars movies and 3 bad ones). After I watched this movie, I just kept wanting to say the word “bitchin!”

My So-Called Life (1994) [TV Show]

MSCL s01e01

Hands down My So-Called Life was one of the greatest teen shows of the 90s (if not THE best). I don’t even care if the main character was a girl, this show ROCKED! It was the O.C. of it’s day because it was one of the first American shows to REALISTICALLY address things like drugs, sex, homosexuality, depression, etc. Sure, that gay-ass Degrassi show TRIED but, of course, it was cheesy as hell. Plus, this show was made back in 1994 so it’s AUTOMATICALLY cool. Unfortunately, there was never a second season, but you can download all of the first season below in HQ or watch it online if you’re a member. Download Full Episodes or Watch online…

Saved! (2004) [Movie]

Saved! DVD cover

If you were/still are/know deeply religious people, then you know how overbearing they can be. I’m not saying that religion doesn’t help people (ok I’m going to stop now before I go off on a rant) but I am saying that SOME religious nuts are very brainwashed into thinking that things are SUPPOSED to be a certain way for EVERYONE. Personally, I’m not a religious person at all (not anymore) and I found this movie to be entertaining and thoughtful at the same time. It’s kinda rare to find in movies like this considering the whole teen-style of the film.
