If you didn’t know, Marilyn Manson was one of the “reasons” that the media used to explain why the Columbine kids shot up their school. It was a stupid one, of course, and what’s even more stupid is the fact that the kids who shot up the school WEREN’T EVEN FANS OF HIM. For 2 years he declined every interview except this one from Michael Moore.
This is actually a clip taken from the movie Bowling For Columbine so watch that if you want to see more on the subject of Columbine. Every time I show this video to someone they always seem so surprised. “Marilyn Manson is intelligent?” Oh, yeah bitches..Manson ROCKS! Read more…
I was just going to post one Manson album (Holy Wood) but then I just said “Fuck it, they need to hear everything.” So here you go, EVERY good Marilyn Manson album. If you told me that I was going to be a fan of Marilyn Manson a year ago I would have laughed at you and said something like “Manson?…ehhh isn’t he like trying to be the devil or something so he can get attention..geez that guy is weird.” But since then I’ve become to appreciate his art…I say art because he’s actually one of the last TRUE music artists around. Visually, musically, lyrically- just EVERYTHING this guy does is art. He really represents what it means to be a true individual and I respect him for that.
On a related note I’d like to point out that Lady Gaga is trying very hard to be the female Marilyn Manson. Ok, sure, she’s an artist herself, but she STOLE Manson’s style completely. Don’t even get me started on the stupid costumes and videos.
Here’s a movie that addresses both subjects of school bullying AND school shootings. Even though it’s not as good as Bully or Zero Day, it’s got some good acting and it’s a film that does finally show that school shootings don’t just occur because teens are influenced by violent music or video games, but OTHER underlying issues. Unfortunately, it’s in Estonian, so you’ll have to endure subtitles for it. But, trust me, it’s worth it.
They say it was inspired by real events, but I have a hard time believing that schools where bullying isn’t caught on camera still exist. There are just too many scenes where teachers should have caught the bullying but weren’t in the hallway or remained clueless. Then again, this IS a foreign film so they have different security than American schools.
And here I thought the world learned something from Columbine.

This isn’t the most well-put-together documentary. However, it’s probably affected me more than any other documentary simply because I can relate to soo much in it. As a child I, along with my best friend, was diagnosed with ADD. Unlike my friend, however, my parents refused to put me on drugs. Since the teachers were giving my parents so much shit for it, they ended up pulling me out of public school and sending me to a private one. As I’ve come to learn from this documentary, I wasn’t the only one that had these types of problems.
Another interesting point this documentary brings up is that diet (what you eat) has a HUGE affect on the way you act. Since I was always having stomach problems and no one told me I was allergic to certain foods for YEARS, it explains why I was such a depressing and angry kid in high school. IF YOU HAVE “ADD” OR TAKE DRUGS FOR DEPRESSION, YOU FUCKING BETTER WATCH THIS DOCUMENTARY!
A lot of people get pissed off when I say I don’t like this movie. Well, guess what? I DON’T FUCKING LIKE IT! It’s not as if it were the REAL Columbine events or anything- in fact, it’s a pretty boring movie overall. Just lots of walking around and then at the end people get shot. “Unforgettable” my ass.
The director, Gus Van Sant, has made some pretty good movies like Milk and Good Will Hunting, but he’s also made some pretty crappy ones like Last Days,Paranoid Park, and this. Seriously guys, if you wanna see actual GOOD movies about the Columbine massacre just watch Bang Bang You’re Dead, Zero Day, and Bowling For Columbine.
Believe it or not, this movie was filmed before the Columbine High School shootings and actually was based on a banned play. That being said, this has to be one of the best made-for-tv movies EVER. Like Zero Day and Bowling For Columbine, it addresses school shootings so be prepared for some heavy shit. Read more…
Since we’re on the subject of the Columbine shootings, I thought I’d share this song. It’s about the girl (Cassie Bernall) that was asked by one of the shooters if she believed in God. She said “yes” and he shot her.
Hell, I don’t even believe in God (well, at least in the way that most people do) and I STILL have to admit this is a damn good song. The overall message is great: stand up for what you believe, even if it kills you.
[EDIT: It has recently come to my attention that the story of Cassie was a fabrication by the press. So this song isn't really a "based on a true story." See comments below.]
