Avril Lavigne - Let Go (2002) [Album]

let go avril album cover

Avril isn’t punk, but she IS punk-pop or pop with an attitude. Or at least she was when this came out lol. (I HATE that album with “Girlfriend” or what ever the fuck it’s called.) She and Pink were the only girls in the beginning of the new millennium that weren’t trying to be Britney Spears. She was nicknamed “the new Alanis Morissette” but unfortunately, she didn’t stay that way. My favorite song from here has to be “Nobody’s Fool.” Good stuff.

That reminds me, maybe I should share some Pink. Stay tuned folks!

Angels And Airwaves - We Don’t Need To Whisper (2006) [Album]

AVA

Angels and Airwaves is Tom from blink-182’s “new” band. I STILL think that blink-182 was a better band live, but Angels and Airwaves is more original.

I went to Warped tour yesterday just to see Angels and Airwaves (since this album is AMAZING) but I, have to say, it was just OK (Yes, I’m still sad that I won’t get the blink-182 experience that I’ve always wanted.) On a side note, Matisyahu kicked everyone’s ass, even Travis from Gym Class Heroes was impressed. Then I remembered that some of this stuff is IMPOSSIBLE to play live since there are so many guitar/keyboard parts that would require more than 4 people to play them. STILL, this is one of the best albums I’ve ever listened to. I listen to it almost every time I can’t sleep (which is a LOT mind you) and it never fails to inspire me. I recommend loading this in your MP3 player and listening to it in the dark while lying down before you go to bed.

The first time I listened to it that way I SWEAR I got a natural high. This is perhaps the most relaxing album you’ll ever listen to with a Parental Advisory warning on it (lol).

Red Album Cover

Ever since I downloaded (legally of course) this album 3 weeks ago, I can’t stop listening to it. I’M LISTENING TO IT RIGHT NOW. Probably because it’s one of the best rock albums of the year. If you haven’t seen the Pork and Beans music video then check it out below. And remember kids, “if you don’t like it, you can shove it. But you don’t like it, you love it.”

This also includes the best two bonus tracks Pig and The Weight

Green Day - American Idiot (2004) [Album]

American Idot Cover

Words can’t describe how AWESOME this album is, but I’m going to try it anyways. Basically, American Idiot was Green Day’s HUGE comeback album. So huge, in fact, that they surpassed their popularity i the 90’s from their hit 1994 album Dookie. The album was suposed to be a concept album that tells the story of a punk kid Jimmy who has experiences with drugs, girls, running away from home, etc. But to me, the whole “concept thing” kinds failed because some of the songs just don’t fit in with the story.

For example, “American Idiot” was an anti-propaganda song that basically reflected the times when the majority of Americans supported Bush’s retarded decision to invade Iraq for no good reason. When lead singer Billie Joe says “Don’t wanna be an American Idiot” he’s saying he doesn’t buy into the propaganda on TV and by the Bush Administration.

Eminem Collection [3 Albums]

Eminem

Usually, I don’t post more than one album per artist, but for Em, I’m makin’ a fuckin exception. I can’t even BEGIN to explain how much I admire Eminem as a music artist. He is clearly one of the biggest voices of our generation and anyone who has taken their time to listen to one of his albums knows so. I remember when I first heard the Marshall Mathers LP when I was in 6th grade. It was like he took me into another world and that’s STILL the way I feel when I hear one of his songs. He says the shit that other artists are afraid to say without trying to be some thug that most other rappers just fake being. At the time I’m typing this post, I firmly believe that Eminem is the greatest rapper alive as well as the most influential rapper of the 21st century. If you don’t believe me, just TRY to rap his lyrics with him.

Here are his 3 best albums, I recommend listening to them in order for the best experience.

Nirvana - Nevermind (1991) [Album]

Nirvana Nevermind Cover

This is the album that started it all for me. Before this I was still listening to that top 40 crap my parents listened to on the radio. I can say with confidence that this is the only music album that I’ve ever heard that I thought/still think is perfect in every way. I’ll admit, when I first heard it in 9th grade I wasn’t accustomed to listening to alternative music. Since this is about as alternative as you can get I didn’t like the majority of the album, but for some reason, year after year, I kept going back to this album and found that I liked it more and more each time. Hopefully you will too.
