I’ve missed listening to Avril Lavigne. But when she did that song “Girlfriend” I was out. The recent Proactive commercial isn’t helping. “Alice” comes straight from the Alice in Wonderland soundtrack and lyrically, she’s no Edgar Allan Poe. But her voice, the piano, all of the sounds are so full of emotion. It’s a surreal sound, it actually made me think of “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane when I heard it. I honestly think it should be listened to more than once- the first time, all you really hear is her screaming and even now, the long “I” teeters on screaming and singing to me. But I do like her approach on the subject even thought, it doesn’t really seem like most of the song is about Alice in Wonderland.
Lyrics:
Trippin out
Spinning around
I’m underground
I fell down
Yeah I fell down
I’m freaking out, where am I now?
Upside down and I can’t stop it now
Can’t stop me now, oh oh
I, I’ll get by
I, I’ll survive
When the world’s crashing down
When I fall and hit the ground
I will turn myself around
Don’t you try to stop me
I, I won’t cry
I found myself in Wonderland
Got back on my feet, again
Is this real?
Is this pretend?
I’ll take a stand until the end
I, I’ll get by
I, I’ll survive
When the world’s crashing down
When I fall and hit the ground
I will turn myself around
Don’t you try to stop me
I, I won’t cry

I like the song. My sister is a big fan of hers and I’ve heard all of Avril’s and this is something a bit different, I’m guessing because of the type of movie this is. It was about time to hear something from her.

a lot of ppl are complaining that she’s “screaming too much” in this song. I really don’t mind her voice, it’s just that this song isn’t that memorable to me which is a disappointment because it’s the best song on the whole soundtrack probably. Dammit Avril, u used to actually be good! I saw the movie last night and it was just ok to me…but a lot of 8-year-olds behind me were pretty excited lol
