If you see one George Carlin special, make sure it’s this. This is a re-cap of his career that was done in 1997 and hosted by Jon Stewart. Clips of some of Carlin’s most legendary performances can be seen in this special.

Chris Rock and George Carlin are some of the greatest comedians of all time. So when you get both of them in the same room, expect some real talk. I love the part makes fun of people that don’t like the f-word, “They say it’s not a family word…how do you think the family got started? FUCKING!”

Bill Maher is probably the most famous celebrity-atheist and one of my heroes. In this documentary he goes around to some of the most religious places and reveals all the hypocrisy of the people there. This is one of those movies that can turn an agnostic into an atheist. I wish I would have seen something like this years ago.

As I may have mentioned before, I once attended a Christian camp (even though I grew up Muslim, my parents insisted that I go since it wasn’t supposed to be very religious). Once I got there I realized that my parents were wrong- the camp was VERY religious and we even had to go to church and pray on some days. Needless to say, the ignorance of all of the kids came out once they found out I wasn’t part of their religion and I was taunted on a daily basis.

I now realize that the way they treated me was only a reflection of their Evangelical upbringing. If you’ve ever known someone who was a Jesus freak and wanted to know WHY they act the way they do then check this movie out. The brainwashing in this movie is just sick- I’d even go as far as calling it non-physical child abuse.

I was invited to a Hell House back in Middle School, but THANKFULLY I didn’t go to it. After seeing this documentary, I realized that Hell Houses are basically another scared-straight method of pushing vulnerable kids into converting. Basically, what happens is Churches get their teen church members to play “bad kids who need to be saved” and put on a mini-plays about how life without Jesus is basically hell on earth. It’s scary how many kids are converted to Christians after going to Hell Houses. The next time Halloween rolls around, I’d advise you NOT to attend any Hell Houses if you want to have a good time. Unless, of course, you’d like to see disgusting re-enactments of abortions.

Then again…you could always go for the comedic relief.

Here’s a movie that addresses both subjects of school bullying AND school shootings. Even though it’s not as good as Bully or Zero Day, it’s got some good acting and it’s a film that does finally show that school shootings don’t just occur because teens are influenced by violent music or video games, but OTHER underlying issues. Unfortunately, it’s in Estonian, so you’ll have to endure subtitles for it. But, trust me, it’s worth it.

They say it was inspired by real events, but I have a hard time believing that schools where bullying isn’t caught on camera still exist. There are just too many scenes where teachers should have caught the bullying but weren’t in the hallway or remained clueless. Then again, this IS a foreign film so they have different security than American schools.

And here I thought the world learned something from Columbine.

Yeah, it’s not nice to steal any car, but in this situation I kind of feel sorry for these teens. Hell, If I was living in a shitty neighborhood where no one had a car worth more than $15,000 and I saw that some cops had accidentally left behind their Cadillac Escalade…I WOULD TAKE THAT SHIT TOO.

What these stupid cops need to realize is that catching people who steal bait cars isn’t deterring any car-jacking. Any REAL car thieves know that stealing a car requires more skill than just hopping into a car in which the owner just happened to leave the keys. I knew a guy in high school who used to pop locks and jack cars on a weekly basis- and he never got caught.

After he stole one he would immediately go to some fast-food restaurant, order some food and eat it in the car, then drive them back to the same place within the same hour and leave the trash in the car just to spite the rich owners. Sometimes he’d even leave a note.

All these stupid bait self-righteous car idiots are really doing is toying with the legal system and putting teens (some of which would never even attempt of stealing a car in different and NORMAL circumstances) in jail and wasting tax money. I wouldn’t steal $100 out of someone’s pocket, but I sure as hell would take one that happened to be lying on the ground.

Just saying.

I’ve been feeling a bit old lately…no joke. I know I’m only 20 and all but, shit, all of my younger friends just can’t relate with all of my responsibilities now. Most of them have never had a job in their life and never lived a week without mommy doing their dishes and cooking for them. I remember being lazy too, but damn, was I really THAT lazy?

Old age

Requiem For a Dream is one of those movies that you just need to see once. In fact, after I saw this movie I felt soo drained that I didn’t want to watch any other movies for the remainder of the week. I don’t think I’ve seen a movie about drugs that has terrified me as much as this one. Jared Leto (the guy from 30 Seconds To Mars) and Marlon Wayans are surprisingly good actors in this hard hitting drama. The music, of course, may be played out now because of the cult following, but it’s still very haunting.

Middle of Nowhere is an indie movie that reminded me a lot of The Wackness, but without the hip-hop. In other words, it’s a teenage summer romance about a guy who sells weed. Only this time he’s rich and is rebelling because he hates his controlling parents. It’s got the guy who played Charlie Bartlett in it, the chick who played Marissa’s younger sister from the O.C. as well as the mother from Anywhere But Here. It’d just be an ok movie, but the acting is what makes it good.
