Sometimes I love college, and sometimes I feel like I’m wasting my life at school. Not as much as high school, but thoughts like this get to me everyday in class. Thank god it’s the weekend…oh nvm I’ve got class in like 7 hours lol.
Just to let everyone know, the title is misleading, and the audio is crap. The video itself, however, is interesting (coming from someone who loathes The View).
Our views on female sexuality are very hindered by religion and tradition (one and the same, though, right?) and so we go crazy upon hearing that a girl as young as eleven will have sex. The youngest girl on record pregnant was five (though that was incest and rape), and I’ve seen many girls in HS who were pregnant in their freshman year. So’s life.
Here’s where legalities and morality come in: a girl aged 15 on the video was taped saying “I was going to sleep with one of the guys anyway because he was good looking… getting paid is a bonus.” Read more…
Lucky me… I’m not a hugger… at all. Looks like I won’t get fucked over by a bunch of prudes who think that somehow hugging will lead to much dirtier acts. I’m assuming that is what’s frightening the school officials in question to dole out such harsh punishment as they are towards those who show affection of any sort. In fact, in my high school, I remember that hugging would fall under the “public displays of affection” violation, and you would be warned not to do it. This one kid I know went around giving hugs and was told off for it. I can understand why they wouldn’t want distractions, but is hugging that big a distraction? This was the fucking cafeteria, for crying out loud. Our brains were off, our conversations were completely primitive, and we had time to kill. I don’t understand.
This is the one video you in which you will find no rants or excessively long comments. Right to the point: it’s just a video that shows a girl who is standing up on the bus and suddenly flies into the roof via speed bump.
This video really makes my blood boil, but I know that I have to keep this more brief because making a rant is besides the point… the title explains it all, really. A teenage girl fell into an open manhole because she was texting. What the title doesn’t tell you is that the mother wants to take legal action against the city for this incident and that the girl was also walking with a friend when she fell in the manhole. We’re talking a second pair of eyes here.
So before I launch into some long rant, check out the video and tell me your thoughts.
So, time for more video posts. I think I’ll post the one first because it may be the most infuriating to me personally.
Basically, this is a video that is an obvious jab at kids who think that they’re lives are rough because they see other people who have what they want but can’t have… and they want it, too.
First of all, I’m insulted because whoever made the video has no subtlety. There’s no way you could misunderstand his/her intentions.
But the other things that annoys me is that most people realize that their life is good no matter how much they may complain. This almost seems like it’s stereotyping teenagers. It’s true, many complain… and usually it’s just a phase. Adults complain, too, but somehow, I guess, their complaining is more legitimate.
Still, I guess it’s a wake up call of a video, even if it seems condescending. Check it out and see what you think.
You won’t find much much of a rant from this video, either. It shows a teenager who was accused of conducting a robbery and uses his Facebook status to prove that at the time the robbery took place, he had been on the computer.
There are two things I can mention in this article that could draw some really heated opinions: privacy and possible government legislature, and racism. I say racism because there was a person being interviewed that didn’t believe this kid nor his family was telling the truth, and that one of his friends could have logged him onto Facebook and changed his status at the time of the robbery. You can disagree with me, but when you watch the video, see if you can understand my viewpoint (and feel free to disagree with me).
Regarding privacy and possible government legislation : well, I know there’s been a large amount of controversy surrounding Facebook and privacy matters. There have been talks about the government finding a way to handle this on a federal level. However, with this incident, there could be unprecedented laws regarding Facebook and privacy (I can’t quite word how it would work, but I could see this occurring).
As the title states, a bunch of teens were busted and the cops expected to basically shut down a party because they thought the kids were drinking… but their keg was filled with root beer, so there was nothing they could do.
So what exactly should I rant about? Well, let’s look at the comment that one of the newscasters made: “we’re so used to showing situations of juvenile delinquency that we wanted to show something different.” Isn’t that true? The most sensationalist news is to show how fucked up teenagers are so that the adults can watch it and say in their condescending tone “back when we were kids…” Most of the adults watching probably did worse than drinking from a keg. So I was sent a couple of videos that I should comment on for this blog. I’m pretty much game for that, since I’m usually quite opinionated. I’m going to get this one out of the way since it may be the most challenging video on which to form an opinion. I say this because, while somehow youtube has the video listed as “news and politics,” I see nothing newsworthy nor political about it. Maybe there was a controversy and the teacher was fired. I have no clue about this. Read more…
Yay… of all the topics I could write about, I’m writing about the one of which I know absolutely nothing. I’m so amazingly honored that I have nothing here to contribute that you guys probably haven’t already thought or even vocalized.
So, with that said, this video shows Dan Savage talking about when he believes the best time is to have sex, the various questions we should ask ourselves beforehand, and even the options we have, but don’t consider at the time. Read more…
