Songs without words sometimes end up having a more powerful meaning than songs with them for many reasons. Mostly though, the songs without words are the ones that we listen to for meaning, to create our own lyrics or impose our own feelings onto.
Or maybe because it’s funky as all hell.
Hit the Ground Running by Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band is a jazz piece by genre but is for sure some sort of pop funk jazz fusion. Dobut it? See them perform live here. Read more…
I’ve missed listening to Avril Lavigne. But when she did that song “Girlfriend” I was out. The recent Proactive commercial isn’t helping. “Alice” comes straight from the Alice in Wonderland soundtrack and lyrically, she’s no Edgar Allan Poe. But her voice, the piano, all of the sounds are so full of emotion. It’s a surreal sound, it actually made me think of “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane when I heard it. I honestly think it should be listened to more than once- the first time, all you really hear is her screaming and even now, the long “I” teeters on screaming and singing to me. But I do like her approach on the subject even thought, it doesn’t really seem like most of the song is about Alice in Wonderland. CLICK HERE to read lyrics…

One of my favorite music videos. I’m not going to give too much away if you haven’t seen it. All I’m going to tell you is that it was banned and no music stations would play this video when it came out. You can download the HQ version of it below. CLICK here to download HQ version…
I saw this video the other day and I was like DAAAAAAMN this girl is awesome! I don’t usually like “myspace sluts”, but this song goes HARD and the video is super-sexy. “I Love U” sounds like a cross between a Lil Jon song and what Britney Spears SHOULD sing if she didn’t give a fuck. You can watch the video above and download the song below.

This is one of those music videos that can make your day better. Especially if you’re a musician. It features a bunch of aspiring musicians just rocking out with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Man I would have LOVED to have been there when they made this.

There used to be a time when I thought every single Nickelback video was awesome. But as I’ve come to learn, that ISN’T the case. Recently I re-watched all of their videos and none of them stood the test of time for me- “Rockstar” is still awesome though. It basically builds off the song with cameos from a lot of famous people and gives a great “hollywood is full of shit” message. You can watch it above or download the uncensored version of it below. Enjoy. CLICK HERE to download the HQ version…

This song isn’t really that great, but the message of the music video is AWESOME! I’m really sick of every female pop star telling presenting some fake-ass image of what “girls should be like.” Fuck you Britney Spears for that. Fuck you very much. CLICK HERE to download HQ Version…
Since I’m still in a Nirvana mood right now I thought I’d share their episode of Classic Albums. It goes into detail about the stories behind each one of the songs on their classic CD Nevermind- which STILL happens to be my favorite album of all time. You can also download the dvdrip version of it from rapidshare below and it’s much better quality and includes extras.

This was the last song recorded by Kurt Cobain before he died. It’s really haunting and the lyrics are intense. There will always be people that suspect foul play in his suicide, but to me it’s obvious he killed himself. Just listen to the lyrics, he wasn’t happy and this song proves it. The compilation of Nirvana’s stage footage goes great with this song, it just goes to show you how much they really did rock. CLICK HERE to download the DVDrip…

I watch this video when I get depressed, and it always makes me feel better. The strange thing is, I knew about The Fray about a year before they got popular at my school because my cousin had the leaked album. I remember listening to the album and thinking it was great, but this song never stood out to be until the music video was released. Some songs NEED a music video ya know?
