Hey, I'm Charlie Bartlett and this is my blog about teen movies, music, videos, personal rants. Feel free to make a request or ask advice and dont forget to register!
I was just going to post one Manson album (Holy Wood) but then I just said “Fuck it, they need to hear everything.” So here you go, EVERY good Marilyn Manson album. If you told me that I was going to be a fan of Marilyn Manson a year ago I would have laughed at you and said something like “Manson?…ehhh isn’t he like trying to be the devil or something so he can get attention..geez that guy is weird.” But since then I’ve become to appreciate his art…I say art because he’s actually one of the last TRUE music artists around. Visually, musically, lyrically- just EVERYTHING this guy does is art. He really represents what it means to be a true individual and I respect him for that.
On a related note I’d like to point out that Lady Gaga is trying very hard to be the female Marilyn Manson. Ok, sure, she’s an artist herself, but she STOLE Manson’s style completely. Don’t even get me started on the stupid costumes and videos.
As requested this is the Soundtrack from one of my favorite movies Thirteen. The first time I got high I listened to this soundtrack and I honestly only liked a couple songs from it. Who knows, you may like it more than I did. [EDIT: 12-27-09 I fixed the download link]
I can’t believe this album is 10 years old! It used to be the SHIT back in grade school. I remember seeing the Bawitdaba video constantly playing on MTV. It’s a shame that when you mention Kid Rock people only know that one song from him because there are so many good songs on this album like “Cowboy” and “Devil Without A Cause” that sound great when you’re in the car. Yeah, I’m atheist, but my favorite track on the album has to be “Only God Knows Why;” it’s probably the best song made with Auto-Tune ever! Read more…
It’s kinda hard to believe now, but 50 used to be a good rapper. Basically he RULED 2003 with this album. Keep in mind this was before all the cocaine and steroid use. “Many Men” has to be his best song every lyrically. When I can actually afford to buy my own car this has to be one of the first albums I’m gonna bump.
ps. NEVER watch the movie “Get Rich Or Die Trying”- unless, of course, you want a good laugh. It’s incredibly fake and was made when 50 was getting a big head so he exaggerated a ton of details of his life. I actually walked out of the movie theater I was so disappointed.
Honestly, I really don’t think Fozzy is that good, they haven’t made anything past 2005 and really the only decent song I ever heard from them was Enemy (I remember laughing at how awkward the dude looked on MTV2). But hey, a request is a request so here we go… Fozzy is a metal band started by Chris Jericho- the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Below I’ve included their 3 albums that are pretty hard to find on the net. You can also see the music video for ‘Enemy’ below. It’s pretty controversial since it’s about…well, I don’t want to ruin it but it’s really damn depressing to me.
Don’t get me wrong, 2Pac had a lot of good songs, but he never really had that many good albums (this one being one of them). This album was actually released when he was in JAIL. Yeah, he knocked Michael Jackson off the charts FROM PRISON! The amazing thing about this album as that it was recorded in only 2 weeks. Read more…
This is one of the highest selling, and not to mention, greatest albums of the 90’s. It remains the best-selling debut album by a female artist in the U.S.. I still think Courtney Love rocked harder with her band Hole, but Alanis was still grungy (of course, Courtney still paved the way). Not exactly pop and not exactly rock, but somewhere in between, which is why she was more acceptable and popular. My favorite song from here has to be “Hand in My Pocket” because it shows that Alanis is really a great songwriter.
If you ask me, she fell off after this CD. I don’t really like her new stuff.
Kanye’s new cd drops soon, but I’ll always prefer his first. It’s probably one of the most influential rap albums ever. Kanye really took sampling to the next level with this album and created a style that no one on the mainstream charts had at the time. He also put something back into hip-hop that most MTV rappers don’t have today: A MESSAGE. This album is especially important to me now since I’m going to college now and I’m thinking of dropping out (or at least transferring out of state) after this year.
Immortal Technique is up there with Eminem as one of my favorite rappers EVER. Because of his rough past, he is very political and vocal about the ills of society today, especially how bad the projects have gotten. My favorite song from this is probably “The 4th Branch” because it reminds us that WE have the real power in this country.
At first, I didn’t really understand half the shit this dude was talking about in his lyrics because they included some government conspiracy theories, but after a bit of research and watching the movie Zeitgeist, I realized that this dude is REALLY FUCKING intelligent. If someone asked me today which hip-hop artist could possibly change the world, I’d probably tell them Immortal Technique. “Revolutionary” is the RIGHT word.
Btw, the cover of this album is a picture of the oval office shot up.
2001 was the year of pop-diva bashing for sure. Everyone was getting sick of cheezy “baby baby” songs so artists started to rebel. And who could do it better than a pop star herself? Pink told LA Ried (her manager) to basically shove it and that she wasn’t going to be another Britney Spears. At first, they thought this album was going to be a flop….LOFL. I’m a guy, and I admit, this album was da SHIT when it came out. It’s rare to find a Top 40 pop album that REALLY “sticks it to da man” if ya know what I mean.
On a side note, this album totally transformed my sister. Before she used to be a goody goody, but after she got this CD for her birthday, you could see a DRASTIC change by the end of the year. Back when we still bought CD’s lol.
